A. Constipation in Babies less than 1 year is very common and more in formula fed babies and also when initially the semi solid food has been started after 6 months . you can give bonnisan drops and some enzyme preparations in proper dose suggested by doctor and cow's milk should be avoided before 1 year of age . Medications are required but it should be given only in medical supervision .Constipation is usually a very common problem seen in many where the most important causative factor is decrease intake fiber rich diet along with lesser fluid intake. some food like junk food mostly containing maidgha and oily food can aggravate such condition. here the diet modification should be tried first followed by medications like lactulose milk of magnesia and muout powder.

A. Diet. To soften the stools and make them easier to pass, increase the amount of non-dairy fluid and fiber your child gets each day. High-fiber foods include fruits and fruit juices that contain sorbitol (prune, mango, pear), vegetables (broccoli, peas), beans, and whole-grain breads and cereals. Limit foods that can increase constipation, such as fatty foods that are low in fiber. Limit milk to 16 ounces per day.
