Q.

dr.., can you tell me why my newborn girl baby gets tears & also yellowish discharge from both eyes?is it blocked tear duct?if it is means what is the solution &when it's cure?due to blocked tear duct causes any side effects in future?

A. Frequently eye discharge may be due to allergy, infection or trauma by nail of baby or blocked nasolacrimal duct.  If it is due to blocked nasolacrimal duct since birth we have to reopen that duct with massage  Massage from inner side of eyes to the tip of nose.  It will help  Nasolacrimal duct can also be blocked due to nasal congestion Visit ur nearest pediatrician once for detail examination of ur baby.

A. Hello Mom this is very normal in the newborn babies because there eyes tear ducts are blocked initially so there is nothing to worry about it will get better on its on within few months just make sure baby should not touch his eyes with the dirty hand you should keep on pressing the nose with the fingertips in between the eyes to or three times in a day and ask your doctor for eyes drop
