Doctor my son evaan is 1 yr 8 months old. His weight is 11.4kgs He is having severe cough from last one week my doctor advised me to give omnicortil 4ml twice a day for 3 days n cheston DX syrup 4ml thrice a day for 5 days along with i am giving budacart through nebulizer n levolin syrup for after all this cough still abhi hai evaan ko what to do ?

A. Cough along with Cold most of the time is a viral illness and it needs supportive care along with proper hydration. you can give steam inhalation which is very useful . cough needs to be treated with anti allergic and expectorant bronchodilators or antitussives medicine which should be given only after a proper evaluation by the doctor according to the type of cough. if fever is there paracetamol can be given to reduce the fever and the dose can be repvnneated after 6 hours again if required .
