POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy1 Year agoA. At 12 months old (but not before), your child can be introduced to cow's milk. Before your child is 12 months old, cow's milk may put him or her at risk for intestinal bleeding. It is safe though, to give cow's milk to children after they're 1 year old. A child who is 1 or 2 years old should only drink whole milk. This is because the fat in whole milk is needed for your child's developing brain. After 2 years old, children can drink low-fat milk or even skim milk if they are overweight. If your baby isn't a big fan of how cow's milk tastes, you can mix equal parts whole milk and either breast milk or prepared formula (don't mix powdered formula with whole milk instead of water). Then, gradually decrease the ratio of breast milk/formula to whole milk.
