Q.

Can I give formula milk to my 25days old girl? She is on breast feeding but I have sore breast and unable to feed her properly, could you please suggest me what to do with this problem and which brand’s formula milk is good for infants

A. if you are unable to breastfeed then you can give formula milk to the baby. nan pro 1 is supposed to be good and closest to mothers milk in composition. bit however you can consult your pediatrician itself once also. The quantity of formula milk depends on baby's weight. baby should be given 150-200 ml of formula feed for every kg of baby weight. for example if baby is 3 kgs then give 450-600 ml in 24 hrs. that is the thumb rule. Divide this through the day. But since all babies are different then the quantity may vary a bit also.  Please refer to the instructions on the box also once where the quantity will be given as per baby's weight or age. One note about formula feeding: It's easier to overfeed when using formula because it takes less effort to drink from a bottle than from a breast. So please  make sure you keep an on the quantity.
