Q.

baby weight at birth on 13th July was 2.8 kgs. on 5th day it reduced to 2.6 kgs. his current weight is 3.4 kgs. is the weight gain appropriate? how much should babies gain per month?

A. It os too early to come to a conclusion whether weight gain of the baby is correct or not. Give some time and keep feeding in every 2-3 hours and it should include atleast 2 times night feed too. In the initial months, vaby should gain 140-200 gms of weight per week and by 5th month, it should double the birth weight.
