POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy4 months agoA. At 5 months old, most babies are still primarily on breast milk or formula, which provides all the nutrition they need. However, if your baby shows signs of readiness—such as good head control, sitting with support, showing interest in food, and opening their mouth when food is offered—you can start introducing solids slowly.
Begin with very soft, single-ingredient foods in small amounts once a day, such as:
Rice cereal or moong dal water (well-cooked and thin) Mashed banana or apple puree Well-steamed and mashed carrot or sweet potato
Start with 1-2 spoonfuls and watch for any allergic reactions or digestion issues. Always feed solids after milk, not in place of it. Consult your pediatrician before starting solids to ensure your baby is ready.
