A. If your 1 year 9 month old baby is frequently having loose motions, start by giving plenty of fluids like water, coconut water, and oral rehydration solution (ORS) to prevent dehydration. Offer easily digestible foods like banana, rice, curd, apple, and toast (BRAT diet). Avoid giving juice, sugary, spicy, or oily foods during this time. Ensure good hygiene to prevent infection, and check for any new food introductions that might be causing sensitivity. If loose motions last more than 2–3 days, or if there’s fever, blood in stool, or signs of dehydration (dry mouth, less urine), consult a pediatrician promptly.
