Crying, putting fingers in the mouth, or making sucking noises convey that the baby is hungry. A newborn baby needs to be fed every couple of hours.
Burping is important so that the air consumed during the feedings can be let out since it makes the baby fussy. Patting or rubbing a baby's back usually helps them to burp or pass gas. g

I am a new mother so its difficult to know how much my milk flow should be??
POOJA GOSWAMIMom of a 10 yr 6 m old girl3 years agoA. Depending on your milk flow, breastfeeding should be done in every 2-3 hours to an infant. Feeding every hour can cause overfeeding and vomiting if breastmilk supply is good and also it will be tiring for the mother too. It will also impact the sleeping patterns of the baby which is important in the initial months for healthy growth and development.
