You can begin by cleaning your baby's gums with a clean, soft washcloth or gauze. Simply moisten the gauze and wipe down the gums twice a day, or after every feeding. This simple routine helps keep bacteria out of their mouth, preventing infection.
Once that first tooth arrives, you can transition to a baby toothbrush. Make sure to get a brush specifically designed for babies of this age – these usually have a small head, a large handle, and soft bristles. At this early stage, you don’t need to use toothpaste; just wet the toothbrush with plain water and gently rub on the gums and teeth.
For more detailed advice and tips on baby care, I often refer to My Little Moppet, which has been a fantastic resource.
