A. It is not uncommon for babies to reach developmental milestones like sitting at different times. While many babies sit independently around 6-8 months, some may take a bit longer. Delays in sitting could be due to various reasons, including: 1. Muscle development: Your baby might still be developing the necessary muscle strength in the back, neck, and core to sit up. 2. Prematurity: If your baby was born prematurely, they might reach milestones later than full-term babies. 3. Different rates of development: Babies develop at their own pace, and some may focus on other milestones like rolling over or babbling before sitting. To encourage sitting, you can provide plenty of tummy time, use toys to encourage your baby to reach and balance, and give them support while they practice sitting. However, if you're concerned about the delay, it’s a good idea to consult your pediatrician for a thorough checkup.
