#asktheexperts NT measurement was at 4.4 mm at 12w3d and NIPT then came low risk. what should be the next steps? CVS/Amnio/proceed as normal pregnancy?

Q. Hello - My NT scan at 13 weeks showed NT value of 2.9 mm for a CRL of 72.3mm.. I’m 32 y/o now and this put me in a high risk category of 1 in 291. As per doctor’s advice, went for NIPT and fortunately the result was negative (Low Risk). I’m just curious to know why was the NT value too high at the time of scan? What could be the reason and is there anything to worry about?

Q. I had a regular scan at 10.5 wks and it showed NT 4.5mm. I was very scared as there could some problem, but later at 12.3 wks NT scan it showed 2.1 mm. Both the scans where done at the same place by the same Sonologist. The gyn told that the issue is resolved on its own, also NIPT result came as low risk. Did anyone experience similar issue where NT issue resolved on its own. Still the first result of 4.5 worries me.
