A. For a newborn baby, feeding should be on demand, typically every 2 to 3 hours, both day and night. That means about 8 to 12 feeds in 24 hours. Breastfed babies may feed more frequently, while formula-fed babies may go slightly longer between feeds. Watch for hunger cues like rooting, sucking fingers, or restlessness rather than waiting for crying. As your baby grows, they may naturally stretch out the intervals between feeds. Always ensure your baby is gaining weight and has enough wet diapers (at least 6 in 24 hours after day 5).
