Point to various objects in your house and ask your kid to name them. Help him with the names until he begins to say them on his own. Ask your kid simple questions and encourage him to speak in complete sentences. Read him a simple book with pictures and ask him questions related to the story. Point at images in the book and ask him to identify them.

He may be able to talk about his likes and dislikes. He may be able to speak longer sentences. Is he able to understand your instructions ?
