#asktheexperts my mother in law is torturing me to give my 4 months old additional feeding saying that my milk won't be enough but i want to exclusively breastfeed her what should I do?

Only baby will know if his/her tummy is full no one else can decide on it, if at all baby is asking for more milk please give your milk but not the other milk(formula), breast milk supply will automatically increase and will be sufficient for the baby.

Dr Vandan H KumarFather of a 7 yr 4 m old boy3 years agoA. you have to give only breastfeeding /milk to the child till completion of 6 months of age and before 6 months of age if you are giving any type of outside foood or complementary feeding it can cause digestion problem in the child.
no need to give give water also because breast milk contains 80% of water and water also is given after six months of age only.
it is advisable to continue the the multi vitamin and supplement medicines given by your doctor

So you tell your mother in law that you know what is best for your child and if your child is gaining minimum 400 g every month then there is no need of giving any other milk to the child if your breast feeding is a vision for the child then you continue breastfeeding only tell your mother-in-law that you know what is best for your child what are your doctor has suggested you you are the mother of the child so you know what is the best thing. Apart from that it’s your child it has to be a decision so do what you feel is fit for the child and if you still feel irritated then you talk to your husband about itWrite Your Answer Here
