#asktheexperts My lill one is 6 months old her weight is 6kg i think she is under weight wanted to know that what to do for her weight gain

A. dear mum, weight of 6 kg is fine if your baby has doubled the birth weight by 6 months. you can now begin to give foods like porridges (like rice, Ragi, wheat flour , moong dal and rice flour mix) , kheer then dal-rice with vegetables, veg khichadi, soft mashed fruits, curd. later mashed paneer. consistency of food should be like that of ghee avoid water thin foods like thin dals and rice water, soups. Squeeze lemon in baby's food for iron absorption. start with 3-4 tsp and then about half katori per meal about 2 to 3 meals per day. give 1 food for about 3-6 days for baby to accept and to see how baby tolerates it then introduce another new food Initially give after a breastfeed, or between two feeds; later give as breakfast, lunch ,dinner continue to breastfeed
