#asktheexperts my daughter suddenly had fever at night and then was k in the morning and fever again in evening. What could be the problem

Dr Sameer awadhiyaGuardian of 2 children2 years agoA. Fever is a reaction of the body to different pyrogens released during any Infection. Usually temp more than 99 F is taken as fever . Mostly in children fever is because of viral infections like flu or RSV where the fever is there for 4-5 days but may persist even upto 2 weeks . Initially antipyretic like paracetamol is given in a dose of f 15 mg / kg/ dose. Can be repeated after 4-6 hrs if needed . Lukewarm sponge bath can be given abs home remedy to decrease fever. Adequate fluid intake is also beneficial. Urine output monitoring is necessary to avoid dehydration .

RashmiMom of a 11 yr 2 m old girl2 years agoA. It could be due to typhoid also because in typhoid fever comes and goes like this only so you can continue with the fever medicine for three days still if you see it is not subside and then you can check with your paediatrician for further testing
