#asktheexperts My daughter is 1 year old and her weight is 8kg, her birth weight is 2.8kg... is that normal??? Any tip for weight gaining?

A. Dear mum, weight of 8 kg is slightly below the normal weight for 1 year old baby girl. Baby should triple the birth weight by one year. For healthy weight gain, give homemade balanced diet having variety of food groups especially seasonal fruits and vegetables even green leafy vegetables. At least 500 ml of milk every day including milk products like curd, paneer, cheese. You can give eggs and non veg foods. Add powdered nuts like almonds to baby’s food. Add ghee to baby’s food. Give 4 to 5 meals a day and up to one katori every time. Continue to breastfeed.

A. It’s okay it’s below average actually so you can go ahead with giving more of proteins veg and nonveg both to the child that’s going to be quite helpful for healthy weight gain and also start with any multivitamin and iron supplement for the childWrite Your Answer Here
