A. Using a very gentle soap.Using a gentle detergent and no fabric softener in baby's laundry.Using skin moisturizers.Applying a steroid cream (like hydrocortisone or even a stronger one) if the eczema won't go away.Teething sometimes causes a red rash on the cheeks and chin. This happens when a baby drools and the drool dries on the skin, causing redness, irritation, and chapping. The rash is usually harmless, but severe rashes might crack open and bleed, increasing the risk of acquiring an infection.Apply a thin coat of a healing ointment like Aquaphor or petroleum jelly, which will act as a barrier between your baby's skin and the drool. These ointments can be soothing to your baby's irritated skin. At bath time, be sure to use a mild, unscented baby wash.
