Q.

#asktheexperts My baby aspirates quite frequently if I feed milk by mouth but puree he is taking fine. I want to switch completely to semi solids to avoid aspirations. he is currently on OG tube. I offer two puree meals with mouth and all other formula feeds through tube. how soon can I switch to all semi solid feeds? does semi solid cause constipation? My baby developed constipation from 6.5months soon after we changed his formula feed from stage 1 to stage 2. He passes stool every 2-3 days which is very dry and hard with lots of effort. I sometimes give him duphlac 2.5 ml once or twice a day. He is currently taking 120 ml 3 hourly where I put only 2.5 scoop of formula to make it runny so that he can get some water. Should I offer water separately? How much water to offer. water he is unable to take from mouth as he aspirates it. he has a genetic condition leading to developmental delays.

A. Mam for this you will have to check with the doctor when can you start with full semisolid and the other details associated with that of course and water you can start giving from the time of six months onwards itself if you haven’t started giving it you should start with little bit of quantity for your child
