#asktheexperts my 4 month old daughter is having sticky eye and her nose seems to be dry may be she is having cold .What shall I do.

Dr Vandan H KumarFather of a 7 yr 4 m old boy2 years agoA. this can occurs due to weather changes and temperature variations or simple cold and rarely infection.
kindly give nasal saline drops (nasoclear /nasivion s)every three hourly and since it is a salt water/saline water it does not have any side effects and can be given again and again for nasal blockage and respiratory cough.
it will dissolve mucus in nose and throat.
for fever and pain give paracetamol.
anti-cold medicines at this age have got side effects so can be given only after medical consultation.
try to prevent temperature variations around the child and you can also give indirect steam inhalation and if there is no improvement in 2 or 3 days then meet your doctor
kindly maintain hygiene of the eyes and clean it with with clean water.
normally simple secretions / allergy redness should not occur again and again.
use hygienic cloth as well as your hands should be clean when coming in contact with thes child eyes
if the child's eyes is sticky with pus discharge or regular discharge coming out you have to meet the doctor. examination is needed in case on eye infection .
do not use andy drops witout medical consultation
