#asktheexperts Maanvik 's birth weight was 3.4 kg now it's 6 kg. is it ok ?

A. dear mum, weight of 6 kg is fine for 5 months old baby considering a birth weight of 3.4 kg. baby should double the birth weight by 6 months or earlier.

A. Hello good evening !! By 5-6 months babies double their birth weight. As baby is 5 months old weight gain is fine according to age , don't worry. Exclusive breast milk or formula milk until 5 complete months,from 6 month onwards start semi solid foods once a day. Fruits and vegetables puriees, mashes, cerelac, porridges are suggested Mashed banana, mango, steamed and mashed potatoes, carrot, Apple, cerelac with pulses, grains, dal kichdi, idly ghee, cheese, butter unsalted,curd helps in weight gain. Avoid sugar, salt, oil use ghee, cheese, unsalted butter while preparing baby foods. Check suitability before introducing new food items.
