Q.

#asktheexperts I delivered my baby by normal delivery on 6 December. My baby is now about 1 month old. I am breastfeeding, but I have severe pain in both nipples during feeding. There are cracks on the nipples but no bleeding, and after feeding the nipples become lipstick-shaped. Because of the pain, it is sometimes very difficult for me to continue breastfeeding. My doctor has advised warm water cotton compress . I would like expert advice on the following: 1.Is this pain mainly due to incorrect latch or could it be due to fungal or other infection? 2.Which topical cream or medicine is safe to use during breastfeeding?
