Q.
#asktheexperts hi ma'am. my baby is having fever from the day before yesterday. i have given her calpol 120 syrup. yesterday her pediatrician prescribed delcon plus ds but the contains in that syrup are not used for kids under 4 yrs. should i give her that? or should i give her plain paracetamol. also when she wakes up in the morning and drink water she vomits it. after that there is no vomiting. please suggest what should i do?

Dr Vandan H KumarFather of a 7 yr 4 m old boy1 Year agoA. after 2 episodes of vomiting wait for one hour then give vomiting medicine (syp ondem/emeset) 5ml and then again wait for one hour and then give only easily digestible food.
do not give anything to eat in this 2hr waiting period.
if vomiting occurs again then meet your doctor.
avoid giving milk and heavy diet.
vomit usually occurs due to gastritis
the first medicine will always be paracetamol and it is given according to weight and power of paracetamol medicine you are having.
give liquids and easily digestible food and paracetamol should be given only after food.
keep the child in cool environment and avoid using woolen clothes when the child is having fever
armpit temperature of hundred or more is considered as feverd
to body sponge to decrease the surface temperature and should be carried out for at least 20 minutes with normal temperature water.
higher meddicines (ibugesic / meftal-p) whether required or not will be told by the doctor.
