Q.

#asktheexperts Hello. My baby is 9 days old, but he doesn't want to take feed from the breast, only taking feed by bottle. What can I do? Whenever I want to feed from my breast, he denies it.

A. Hi, don't give bottles as it will create nipple confusion and baby won't want to latch directly on breast. You can shift to Milk-o-mate cups from Bump2Cradle instead. these are like cup with attached spoon with it. The flow is controlled so baby won't choke and it wont cause nipple confusion and will easy your journey. Also, you can take help from lactation experts too.

A. Consult a lactation specialist they will advise you and guide you correctly how do you need to teach your child to take feed directly from the breast this usually happens when kids are directly kept on body feeding from the beginning so they prefer taking more of body feeding over breastfeeding because they don’t understand the concept of breastfeeding very quickly then
