Antibiotics are not effective against viral infections, as they only work for bacterial infections. Giving antibiotics unnecessarily can lead to resistance and other side effects.
For viral fever, focus on supportive care:
✔ Keep him hydrated with warm water, coconut water, or homemade soups.
✔ Give paracetamol (as per doctor’s advice) to reduce fever and discomfort.
✔ Ensure proper rest and light, nutritious meals.
✔ Sponge his body with lukewarm water if fever is high.
Antiflu (Oseltamivir) is usually prescribed for specific viral infections like influenza and should be given only if recommended by a doctor. If the fever persists for more than 5 days, or if you notice difficulty breathing, excessive weakness, or dehydration, consult a pediatrician immediately. Let me know if he has other symptoms!
