A. It is quite common for very small babies to make grunting or straining sounds while sleeping, especially during the first few months. This usually happens because their digestive system is still developing, and they are learning how to pass gas or stool. Even during sleep, they may appear to be pushing or straining, but if they are otherwise feeding well, gaining weight, and not in visible discomfort, it's usually normal. However, if your baby seems to be in pain, has hard stools, a swollen tummy, or reduced urine output, it’s best to consult a pediatrician to rule out any underlying issue.
