Q.

#asktheexperts Hello doctor, my son is two months old and today he passed stools after two days, usually his stools were runny but from last 2-3 times his stools have thickened and frequency of stools is reduced from 2-3 times a day to one time / day. He is exclusive breastfed. Had given him formula one time. Is this normal?

A. Loose motion most of the time is because of some infection which could be viral or bacterial and in such case it is associated with symptoms like fever along with vomiting and loss of appetite . supportive treatment is very necessary where proper hydration should be maintained by giving ORS along with that probiotic can be gibven like enterogermina ocr econorm in a proper dose . Antibiotics has their role only if it is bacterial infection . for this doctor guidance is necessary .

A. Hi Mom, It is normal and nothing to worry about that. Feed your baby well at regular intervals of time. Burp up your baby after every feed. Keep the baby well hydrated always. Thank you and have a nice day.
