#asktheexperts hello doctor. my son is 1 year 3 months old and he is suffering from reccurent fever ..today 5th time fever comes in this month...doc given calpol then again after 1 week same happens...then again doctor had given antibiotics like Amoxicillin maxtra p again after 1 week today fever comes ..doc told me that this bacterial infection and again given us antibiotics.. Augpen alerfri syrup and flora r ...now I m very much tensed is there any sides effects of this much medicines??? and what I do if again fever come??? this is 5th time fever comes in this month...his weight last week was 11.2 and today it's 10.9kg...pls suggest right treatment

Dr Sameer awadhiyaGuardian of 2 children3 years agoA. Fever is commonly seen in babies and mostly it's viral infection which is very common in children.
But if fever is high grade and persisting or assosiated with specific symptoms than other causes should also be ruled out .
Antipyretic like paracetamol or ibuprofen or mefenamic acid are usually given to reduce fever . Coltd sponging with lukewarm water is also helpful .
Doctor consultation should be done if symptoms like excessive irrjiitability dullness loss of appetite less urine output is there .
