#asktheexperts Hello Doctor,My daughter is 3 month old from past one week she is having cough and cold.I took her to hospital last Monday doctor said she got viral infection and gave syrup, she was fine for next three days again on Friday she got cough.Therefore doctor suggest to give kofarest 0.5 ml for another three days.But still cough and cold didn't reduced.please advice.

Dr Sameer awadhiyaGuardian of 2 children3 years agoA. Cough along with Cold most of the time is a viral illness and it needs supportive care along with proper hydration. you can give steam inhalation which is very useful .
cough needs to be treated with anti allergic and expectorant bronchodilators or antitussives medicine which should be given only after a proper evaluation by the doctor according to the type of cough.
if fecfver is there paracevtamol can be given to reduce the fever and the dose can be repeated after 6 hours again if required .
