Q.

#asktheexperts hello doctor, how to know if milk supply is enough for baby? My baby is 5 months 14 days old, he is exclusively on breastfeeding and his pee count is good above 8 to 10 per day. But his weight is not gaining much. His current weight is 5.28 Kg , birth weight was 2.72 Kg. He gained only 140 gms last month. I am really worried about his poor weight gain , otherwise he is active playing ,pee/ poop is fine. what could be reason for slow weight gain?

A. in first six months the minimum weight gain should be 500 mg per month and it can go up to 1 kg per month also. the urine output should be more than 6 to 7 times per day. the child should sleep after taking feeding. meet the doctor for weight assessfment. if the above criteria is achieved then the child is having adequate milk intake. if the growth of the child is proper there is no need to worry about thce sleeping pattern/ feeding as well as the stool frequency of the child
