POOJA KOTHARIExpecting Mom due in 1 month3 months agoA. You can start introducing solid foods to your 5-month-old baby alongside milk, but it’s best to do it gradually and carefully. Begin with single-ingredient, soft, and easily digestible foods like mashed banana, cooked and pureed vegetables (like carrot or sweet potato), or rice cereal mixed with breast milk or formula. Start with just a small spoonful once a day, ideally after a milk feed, and watch for any signs of allergy or intolerance. Over the next few weeks, you can slowly increase the quantity and variety, but milk (breast or formula) should remain the main nutrition source until around 1 year. Always ensure the food is smooth and avoid honey, salt, or sugar at this stage. If unsure, discuss with your pediatrician before starting solids.
