Q.
#asktheexpert why my baby boy (3 weeks old) was struggling to poop. He is feeding with powder milk only for now. Appreciating your kind response in advance.

the child is crying due to colic pain (due to gas) and not due to the reason that the child has not passed the stool.
infants may not pass stool for 10 days also and if the consistency of the stool is semi solid to solid it is not constipation. you can consider constipation only if it is hard and dry stools.
you can give anticolic medicines and meet your doctor.
burping / upright position for 20 minutes will help in decreasing the gazs and future colic pain

AbhayaMom of a 15 yr 8 m old boy1 Year agoA. Hello there ma’am please do not worry about it too much. It is not advisable to give anything to the baby other than mother’s milk till the age of six months. Please massage baby stomach with BabyHug coconut oil clockwise and anti-clockwise. You can also apply hing water on baby stomach. Also do some cycling leg exercises of the baby to relieve from constipation and gas. Please make the baby burp after every feed. Mother should chew saunf and ajwain after every meal.
