A. To help increase your child’s weight in a healthy way, offer nutrient-dense, high-calorie foods that are easy to digest and packed with essential vitamins and minerals. Some of the best weight-gaining foods for children include: Full-fat dairy: milk, cheese, yogurt, paneer Ghee and butter: add small amounts to food for healthy fats Banana, mango, chikoo (sapota): calorie-rich fruits Eggs: especially yolk, if no allergy Sweet potato, potato: energy-rich and easily digestible Rice and dal with ghee: balanced and filling meals Dry fruits powder (almond, cashew, walnut) mixed in porridge or milk Homemade laddoos or halwa using jaggery and ghee Offer 3 main meals and 2–3 snacks a day, and avoid filling up on juices or snacks that have little nutrition. Always consult your pediatrician if weight gain is very slow or if there are any underlying concerns.
