A. At 6 months, your baby is ready for solid foods along with breastmilk or formula, which should remain the main source of nutrition. Introduce one new food at a time, following the 3-day rule to check for allergies. 1. Ideal 6-Month Baby Diet A. First Foods (Single-Ingredient, Easily Digestible) ✅ Fruits: Mashed banana, apple puree, pear puree ✅ Vegetables: Steamed & mashed carrot, pumpkin, sweet potato ✅ Grains: Rice cereal, suji kheer, ragi porridge, oats ✅ Lentils: Moong dal water, thin dal soup ✅ Other: Mashed avocado, homemade cerelac 2. Feeding Schedule (Sample) ⏰ Morning (8 AM): Breastmilk/Formula ⏰ Mid-Morning (10 AM): Mashed banana / Steamed apple puree ⏰ Lunch (1 PM): Moong dal khichdi / Ragi porridge ⏰ Afternoon (4 PM): Breastmilk/Formula ⏰ Dinner (7 PM): Mashed sweet potato / Suji kheer ⏰ Night (Before Bedtime): Breastmilk/Formula ➡ Start with 1-2 tablespoons per meal and gradually increase. 3. Tips for Introducing Solids ✔ Begin with thin, smooth consistency, then gradually thicken. ✔ Offer solids once a day, then increase to 2-3 times. ✔ Use a soft spoon and sit baby upright while feeding. ✔ Avoid salt, sugar, honey, and cow’s milk before 1 year. ✔ Continue breastfeeding/formula on demand.
