Q.

#asktheexpert Respected Sir/ma'am My daughter's eyes have been watering a little since yesterday and I think she is having some eye problems. She has also been having some diarrhea for the past two or three days. Can I get some information about this?

A. Your daughter's watery eyes and diarrhea could be signs of a mild viral infection, which is common in children and may affect both the eyes and stomach. Watery eyes might also result from irritation, blocked tear ducts, or an early eye infection like conjunctivitis. Keep her eyes clean by gently wiping with a soft, damp cloth. Ensure she stays hydrated by giving fluids like breast milk, ORS, or water (if above 6 months). Avoid touching her eyes with unwashed hands. If symptoms worsen, or if she develops redness, swelling, fever, or persistent diarrhea, consult a pediatrician promptly for proper evaluation and treatment.
