When a baby has reflux some milk that he has taken along with the stomach acid pops up to the esophagus and causes irritation, spit up or vomit. In case of silent reflux you won't notice obvious signs like spit up or vomit but the baby will have irritation and pain. Baby will be crying a lot during feedings, could show signs of choking or coughing etc., Try to burp the baby well and hold in the upright position for some time before laying down on the back. Keeping the baby's head elevated compared to the body or laying the baby to sleep on left side could sometimes help. Try giving small feeds frequently instead of one full feed. Doctors may prescribe medicine to lessen the stomach acidity. In general, reflux gets over on its own as the baby grows older.
