A. Generally, toe walking is a habit that develops when a child learns to walk. More than half of young children who toe walk will stop doing so on their own by about age 5. As long as your child is growing and developing normally, toe walking is unlikely to be a cause for concern. But sometimes toe walking can be due to tight leg muscles, stiffness in the Achilles tendon or a lack of muscle coordination. So it is better to consult with your doctor to rule out such possibilities.
