POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy5 months agoA. Hiccups in newborns and infants, including your twin baby girls, are very common and usually harmless. Babies get hiccups due to:
Immature diaphragm movements (which improve as they grow). Overfeeding or feeding too quickly, causing the stomach to expand and trigger hiccups. Swallowing air while feeding. What You Can Do to Reduce Hiccups: Burp Frequently – Burp the babies after every feed and even midway through feeding. Feed in an Upright Position – Hold them at a slight angle to prevent excess air swallowing. Offer Small, Slow Feeds – Avoid overfeeding or letting them drink too fast. Try Gripe Water (if recommended by a doctor) – Some parents find it helpful. Let It Pass Naturally – Hiccups usually stop on their own in a few minutes. When to See a Doctor? If hiccups last more than 10 minutes every time and happen too frequently after feeds. If hiccups come with vomiting, discomfort, or feeding issues.
Otherwise, occasional hiccups are normal and not a cause for concern. Let me know if you need any more advice!
