A. I'm sorry to hear that your son is feeling unwell. A combination of cold, nasal congestion, and fever can be uncomfortable, but with proper care, he should improve soon. Here's what you can do to help: 1. Continue Using Saline Drops: You can continue to use saline nasal drops to relieve the nasal congestion and help clear the mucus from his nose. Saline helps to loosen the mucus, making it easier for him to breathe. You can use a nasal aspirator (bulb syringe) to gently remove the mucus after applying the saline drops. 2. Monitor the Fever: If your baby’s fever is mild, you can monitor it and offer Paracetamol (Acetaminophen) in the correct dosage for his weight. This can help reduce the fever and make him feel more comfortable. Be sure to consult your pediatrician or read the label for the right dosage based on his weight. 3. Keep Him Hydrated: Fever and congestion can lead to dehydration, so it’s important to ensure that he stays well-hydrated. Offer small sips of water or his usual milk feed more frequently. You can also try warm liquids like soup or water if he is willing to drink. 4. Use a Humidifier: A cool-mist humidifier in his room can help keep the air moist, which can relieve nasal congestion and make it easier for him to breathe while sleeping. 5. Comfort and Rest: Ensure he gets plenty of rest, and offer comfort when he's feeling irritable. Holding him or giving him extra cuddles can help soothe him during this time. 6. Dress Lightly: If your baby has a fever, avoid over-dressing him. Dress him in light layers, and keep the room at a comfortable temperature to help regulate his body temperature. 7. Monitor Symptoms: Keep an eye on his symptoms. If his fever lasts for more than a couple of days, or if he starts showing signs of difficulty breathing (such as rapid breathing or wheezing), or if his symptoms worsen, it's best to consult your pediatrician right away. Fever and cold symptoms are common in babies, but if you’re ever uncertain or the symptoms worsen, always reach out to your healthcare provider for further advice.
