Generally babies start speaking 9-11 small words mama, dada,papa and mostly babbling but by one and half year they start speaking words by 2.5 years they start speaking sentences.
If you observe any delay in Milestones ( social smile, responding to name, simple commands, asking his needs,no direct eye contact,not mingling with same age kids or family other than parents or family members) then need assessment.
Consult developmental pediatrician or child psychiatrist.
Avoid screen time,( mobile, tv, laptop) baby gear, walking ,out door games helps in engaging parks, mingling with same age kids will help in speech but do consult developmental pediatrician or speech therapist.
