ExpertDr.Sabiha AnjumObstetrician and Gynaecologist3 years agoA. Hello dear You can wait even upto one year after giving birth for the menstrual cycles to resume . But in the meantime there is a probability of getting pregnant even if the cycles haven’t started. So keep using contraception

This is because the hormone that causes you to make milk, prolactin, also stops you from ovulating and having your period. If you are breastfeeding day and night, it can be up to a year before your period returns.
