Q.

#AskTheExpert my left breast is having some pains in some areas and the skin on my nipple is broken a little. it is difficult to feed as it pains a lot at the time of sucking and latching. the pain is like chilli powder is applied. also throughout the day there is a poking pain in both breasts now and then. please suggest.

A. This mild pain is common, and it should go away as you nurse your baby. They can develop for many reasons including a poor breastfeeding latch, not using a breast pump correctly, or an infection. Then, once you have them, sore nipples can lead to a difficult let-down, a low breast milk supply, or early weaning
