POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy6 months agoA. Your 5-year-5-month-old daughter has had a mouth wound for 3 days and loss of appetite. This could be due to:
Possible Causes:
1️⃣ Mouth Ulcers (Canker Sores) – Due to vitamin deficiencies, stress, or infections.
2️⃣ Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD) – If she also has rashes on hands/feet along with mouth sores.
3️⃣ Oral Thrush (Fungal Infection) – White patches inside the mouth.
4️⃣ Viral or Bacterial Infection – Fever, swollen gums, or pain while eating.
5️⃣ Vitamin Deficiency (Iron, B12, Zinc) – Can cause frequent mouth ulcers.
What You Can Do at Home:
✔ Give Cold or Soft Foods – Curd, banana, smoothies, khichdi, dal rice.
✔ Apply Honey or Ghee – Natural healing agents for ulcers.
✔ Rinse Mouth with Salt Water – Helps with healing (if she can gargle).
✔ Give Coconut Water – Hydrating and soothing.
✔ Avoid Spicy or Citrus Foods – They can irritate the wound.
When to See a Doctor?
⚠ If ulcers last more than a week.
⚠ If she has fever, swollen gums, or body rashes.
⚠ If she refuses to eat or drink at all.
Would you like suggestions for vitamin-rich foods to prevent this in the future? Let me know!
