Offer food in small portions and give more only when the kid asks. Offer his favourite foods along with the new foods that you want to introduce in his diet. Give him a bowl and a spoon and let him eat on his own. Let him make a mess and play with the food and this is how he will learn to eat independently. Let him be a part of meal preparations like setting up the table before mealtime or selecting the vegetables for curry preparation. Avoid distractions during mealtime like TV, cell phones, laptop, tablet etc. Let family meals be a pleasant family experience. The family should eat together so that the kid eats good and healthy eating habits from parents and siblings. Offer colourful foods on colourful plates and in quirky bowls and cut foods into different shapes using food cutters to attract the attention of the kid.
