A. Hello! Introduce your child to minimal quantities of spices. Then gradually increase the spice levels. Instead of adding red or green chillies to the meals, try adding capsicum, cloves, ginger etc. go your child's meals.

A. It depends on your definition of spice. If you are referring to capsaicin, which is the antioxidant in chili peppers, then do not give it to a toddler. The taste receptors of toddlers are much more sensitive at that age, so spiciness will be greatly amplified if spicy food is given, which will cause agony for your child and as the acidic substance travels through the child’s sensitive digestive system, it can even lead to diarrhea, rectal burns, and sometimes asthma attacks, which has been known to kill some toddlers. If I were you, I would wait until your kid is at least 5 years old before exposing him/her to spicy food.
