Q.

#AskTheExpert my boy is 4 months old. born with 2.7 birth weight. he is just 4 kg now. am supplementing with formula. can you please help me with feeding pattern. how much formula to be given in ml per day. since I feel am not making enough

A. Thnaks for your response.he is peeing more than 10 times. but his weight gain is just 350g per month. how can I check if my breast milk is sufficient for him

A. Yes he seems to be of low weight compared to his birth weight. First thing make sure to consult with your pediatrician and see if you are giving the right formula or might he need any special formula that will help weight gain. Your baby should be peeing anywhere between six to ten times a day which means the baby is taking feeds properly. If not then make sure the baby is latching and taking feeds well and if the frequency need to be increased. Also there should be a gradual weight gain. Keep a check on these factors. Babies under six months take on an average around 750 ml to 900ml per day split up into seven to nine feeds based on their appetite.
