Q.

#asktheexpert my baby was drinking for 20 minutes at least when she was 1-2 months old. now she drinks only 5 to 10 minutes at a time. but she does drink for half hour sometimes.. may be once in a day or once in two days. is mother's milk enough for 5 months old baby or is it that we need to start with solids and mother's milk is not enough? we thought we will start after 6 months but now not sure. is it that she needs more milk in initial months but now not required in that quantity?

A. Older babies may take five to 10 minutes, or less, on each side. Short nursing sessions are normal – and perfectly fine unless your baby is having trouble gaining weight.
