A. At one year and seven months, a typical weight range is about 10-14 kg. If your baby is within this range but still considered underweight, a few factors could be contributing: 1. **High Activity Level**: Active toddlers burn a lot of calories, which can affect weight gain. 2. **Feeding Issues**: Refusing food might be due to teething, a lack of appetite, or simply being a picky eater. 3. **Nutrient Absorption**: Some children might have issues absorbing nutrients properly due to underlying conditions. 4. **Metabolism**: Some children naturally have higher metabolisms and thus might be leaner. ### Steps to Consider: 1. **Balanced Diet**: Ensure your child is getting a balanced diet rich in proteins, healthy fats, and carbohydrates. Include a variety of fruits, vegetables, grains, and dairy or dairy alternatives. 2. **Frequent Small Meals**: Offer smaller, more frequent meals and snacks to increase overall calorie intake. 3. **Nutrient-Dense Foods**: Include high-calorie, nutrient-dense foods like avocados, cheese, nuts (if not allergic), and whole milk yogurt. 4. **Consult a Pediatrician**: If you're concerned about your child's weight, consult a pediatrician. They can rule out any medical issues and provide tailored advice. 5. **Monitor Growth**: Keep track of your child's growth using a growth chart to ensure they are growing steadily, even if slowly. If your child continues to refuse food or shows other signs of illness, it's essential to seek medical advice to ensure there's no underlying issue.
