Q.

#asktheexpert My baby is four month old but only 5.08 kg What can I do to increase his weight he is taking breastmilk through bottle about 100 ml 7 feeds a day. During day 3 hour gap in night 4 hour gap starting from 11pm-8 am. He takes 45 minutes to feed during the day and cries a lot while feeding Please advise what to do

A. By five months of age, the baby should double the birthweight so don’t focus more on the weight right now and don’t force feed the baby also. You have to follow the hunger cues and feed the baby accordingly.

A. Hello there ma’am please do not worry about it too much. Hello there maam please do not worry about it too much. Baby weight depends on birth weight and normally doubles by the age of six months and triples by the age of one year. If baby is active and taking feed properly then no need to panic. Mother should take healthy food items including fresh fruits and dry fruits. Thanks and take care
